there are two ways to swim upstream, err drive uptown, in manhattan.

way one: float the green stream. sometimes, just sometimes you catch the green lights just right and can follow them all the way in. very few stops. ideal. avg cost: $11.50

way two: get caught at a red light. that means you can travel seven blocks before you stop at the next red light. more than a few stops (7 since you are traveling exactly 70 block uptown). not so ideal. avg cost: $14.00

A lil bit of pet peeve ranting

Really... if you need to say "it goes without saying" and then proceed to say that which, by your own admission, "goes without saying," then just leave it without being said.

It's like using a cliche and then immediately following it with "so to speak." Really, you're following one cliche with another? Really?
